‘Dogs boys track shows talent

The Becker Bulldog boys track team continues to display talent and great depth, as they competed in a pair of meets last week.

At the Monticello Invite, Becker faced off with top AA and AAA schools and finished in fourth place, with 103.5 points.  The host Magic finished on top with 155 points.

Carter Reckelberg continued to impress, as he set another school record, his fourth overall, by running a 10.78 in the 100 meter dash.  He also finished second in the 200, with a personal best time of 22.6 seconds.

Owen Angell took two second place finishes in the Hurdles,  nailing the 110’s in 15.34 and the 300’s in 40.65.  He also won the pole vault at 13’ and the high jump at 6’.  

Parker Spindler was very good in the 1600, placing third, while Tanner Felton took fifth in the 800 and then helped lead the 4x800 team to a second place finish along with Evan Hubbard, Alex Kinney, and Spindler.

Hunter Youngdahl placed third in the long jump with a jump of 19’ 6” and Mitchell Soltau placed fifth at 19 ‘ 5”.

Pillager Meet

Last Thursday, the team traveled to Pillager and took first in the 13 team meet with 128 points.

Soltau stepped up and won the 100 meter with a time of 11.77 and then placed third in the 200 with a time of 23.68, while Tarver Schendzielos picked up a third place finish in the 100 with a time of 12.16. 

Those two then teamed up with Isiah Boyer and Dalton Weisz to a second place finish in the 4x200 relay with a 1:36.8 time.  

The 4x800 relay team of Felton, Hubbard, Brandt Hemmelgarn, and Hudson St. Denis took second place with a time of 8:48.4.  Felton then ran the 400 instead of the 800 and finished third at 53.39 and Boyer was close behind in fourth place.  

Boyer and Felton then joined up again along with Youngdahl and Spindler to take second place in the 4x400 relay, finishing with a time of 3:41.8.  Youngdahl then took second and fourth place finishes in the 110 and 300 hurdles, respectively, and a fifth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 19’ 11.5”.  

Schendzielos grabbed fourth in that event with a jump of 20’1” .   

Spindler took two second place finishes, in both the 1600 and 3200 with times of 4:42 and 10:25, while Hemmelgarn finished fifth with a 5:05 in the 1600.

St. Denis finished fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:18, while Hubbard ran in his first 3200 of the year and placed third with a 10:33 time.

In the rest of the field events, Saul Kreft placed third in the discus with a toss of 107’ and Zach Halvorson placed seventh in the shot with a toss of 39’ 8.75”.   Jacob Williams vaulted 10’ 4” which was good enough for sixth place.
